Each place has a past, everything has some sort of history, and if people from the past could see what the land is like now, they would probably not recognize it. Delran, NJ homes for sale today look nothing like the simple dwellings which could be found in this area long before it was even known as Delran.
Prior to the incorporation of Delran in 1880 and pre-dating the coming of the European settlers, this charming land close to the river was where the Lenni-Lenape Native Americans peacefully lived. More commonly reffered to as the Delaware Indians, they enjoyed the bountiful gifts of the land and the waters. Hunting and Fishing is one of the things they came here for. Because they were settled in the area, artifacts such as spears, tomahawks, and stone pipes were found all over the region.
The white settlers started to come to this section on the Delaware River during the 17th century. A massive move to the Delaware Valley was brought about by the Quaker migration. Soon, roads and settlements were established. The Delran which we know of today was once part of Chester Township. When the township got split, Delran Real Estate was part of Cinnaminson Township. It was only on February 12, 1880 that Delran came to be. Now over a century old, this township values its past and at the same time looks to the future with high hopes.
