As if living right next to one source of water wasn't enough, Delran had to be situated at the convergence of two. The Delaware River, which flows for 360 miles through the states of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware, separates Delran from nearby Philadelphia. Rancocas Creek, which is a tributary of the Delaware River, distances Delran from Willingboro. It is from these two bodies of water that this township takes its name – “Del” from the Delaware River and “Ran” from Rancocas Creek.
Delran Township was incorporated on February 12, 1880. The township was created from sections of Cinnaminson which is its next door neighbor. Located in the alluring Burlington County in South New Jersey, Delran is surrounded by several townships. Towards the north are Riverside Township and Delanco Township, due east is Willingboro Township, heading south there's Moorestown Township Real Estate and Mount Laurel Township Real Estate, while to the west is Cinnaminson Township.
